Ownership Days

The total days in a period that a shipowner owned or chartered-in each vessel, summed across the fleet -- the denominator behind almost every other shipping metric. It is the honest way to size a fleet that changed during the quarter: a company that took delivery of four ships in March did not have them for the full period, and ownership days says so. When an owner reports revenue or cost 'per day', this is usually what it is divided by. Compare it across quarters to see fleet growth that a simple vessel count would hide or overstate.
